Craftsmanship & Sacred Placement Insights

Traditional alloys like bronze and brass undergo natural oxidation when exposed to moisture and air. This process creates a beautiful antique green coating known as a patina. While some collectors love this weathered look, others prefer to maintain the brilliant golden luster of freshly cast metal. Here is how you can care for your idols using simple organic ingredients.
1. The Tamarind & Lemon Method (Traditional Artisanal Cleaning)
Master artisans recommend using tamarind paste or lemon juice mixed with salt. The natural citric acid acts gently on the metal tarnish without scratching the hand-chiseled engravings.
- Apply a thin layer of organic tamarind pulp or fresh lemon juice over the idol.
- Gently scrub using a soft-bristled brush in circular motions, paying attention to the cracks and ornaments.
- Rinse immediately with clean lukewarm water. Do not let the acid sit on the metal for more than 5 minutes.
- Dry completely with a soft microfiber cloth. Any remaining moisture will accelerate tarnish.
2. Rejuvenating with Pitambari Powder
Every Amravan order comes with a small pouch of organic polishing powder. Apply this powder dry or with a drop of water, rub gently, and rinse. It will instantly restore the bright gold shine.
3. Preventing Future Oxidation
To protect your bronze and brass from rapid oxidation, apply a very thin coat of coconut oil or natural beeswax using a dry flannel cloth. This creates a transparent barrier that repels humidity, keeping your divine masterpieces glowing for longer.
